As a homeowner of 2-story home in Roseville, CA my interest in upgraded Sunscreens was for the obvious temperature control and savings, my biggest concern is the 3 months of +90-degree Summer weather. During those months, it is very difficult to keep our house cool, I like my house at 74 degrees, which makes it even harder. As you can imagine, my Air Conditioner runs constantly trying to cool both upstairs and downstairs (zoned system). On days where the temperature reaches 98 to +100 degrees, our air conditioner will run straight, non-stop, from 2pm until 9pm at night before it satisfies the thermostat temperature setting, and then shuts off (cycles off). This means an average of $500/month electric bill during those months.
We ordered our EZ SunScreen Kit's and hired Screens for Windows to do the build and install in July, during the peak of Summer heat, which is ideal for comparison. Amazingly, to my surprise, the very first day, I heard "silence". No sound of our air conditioner running.....this is an experience I have never had! Instead of the constant sound of the condenser running! Yes, now, I would hear it running, then shut-off (It shuts off!!!) running intermittently and cycling off, every 10-15 minutes! I couldn't believe it! At that point, I was sold, the Sunscreens really did cut +80% of the temperature from Sunlight on our home, but also helped to regulate and maintain an even temperature downstairs AND upstairs!
The second benefit is overall appearance inside and out. The Sunscreens look great on the exterior, with clean lines and a clean fit to the outside windows. With that, it allows us to have our window blinds "open" during the day, to allow us to have some natural light in the home, and to look outside, without having all the window blinds closed, making our house during the Summer months feel like a dark cave. Having the blinds wide open all the time, and cracked just a little when +98 degrees, adds to the overall healthy appearance of the home during the day.
Lastly, is security and privacy. Our Sunscreens allow us to see clearly outside during the day, but those outside cannot see inside. At night, it is slightly harder to see outside, but still, having the Sunscreens installed securely to the house gives a safety advantage that is far better than (having) nothing over the windows at all.
Overall, this was a great purchase that far exceeded my expectations on performance, since I was skeptical that Sunscreens might only help a little. I was wrong, they really made a huge impact. As for Screens for Windows, I was truly pleased with the communication, professionalism, timeliness, and guidance through the process. Installation was perfect, they made the entire process a great experience!
